How do we inhabit spaces? How does the body shape the way we see, feel and participate? What does it mean to make art, the city and culture more accessible to different bodies, experiences and ways of being?
Whether you have a background in arts, science, technology, sport, architecture or gaming, or are simply curious to see the world from new perspectives, this Open Day is for you.
The MAAT Youth Collective Open Day, organised in partnership with Teatro São Luiz, invites you to explore accessibility as a space for creation, encounter and experimentation. Throughout the day, we will bring together contemporary art, performance and critical thinking to reflect on the bodies that inhabit cultural spaces, the gestures that bring communities together or drive them apart, and the different ways in which people participate.
Throughout the day, you will have the opportunity to:
- Find out about the new season of the MAAT Youth Collective and its programme (the museum’s Youth Collective is an active participation programme where young people, the museum, artists and the city come together to reflect on and create culture);
- Explore behind the scenes at MAAT and the São Luiz Theatre;
- Take part in artistic and performative experiences;
- Experience activities that challenge the relationship between the body, movement and space;
- Talk to artists, researchers and other young people about inclusion, participation and collective creation;
- Find out how you can be part of a community that believes culture is built by everyone.
This is an invitation to reflect on the body, the places we occupy and those we can still transform.
